The Colgate ‘Learn and Earn’ offer which was designed to encourage consumers to learn the 5 simple oral care tips and earn scholarships worth Rs.10,000 each, was launched in July’09 by Colgate as part of its continuous effort to improve oral hygiene awareness.
The key focus of this campaign, which was open to all consumers, was to reach out to consumers and not only educate them about the basic oral care habits but also support them in their educational endeavours through scholarships.
The offer got an overwhelming response from consumers across the country with over 130,000 entries of which 150 scholarship winners were selected.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramya said “I feel Colgate ‘Learn and Earn’ offer is a very interesting way to reach out to the consumers to educate them about basic oral care and also give them an opportunity to earn scholarships. As part of this initiative, I participated in a school contact program conducted under the offer in Chennai. This program helped inculcate basic oral care hygiene habits in school children as they can be an important influence in motivating friends and family to change their ways and adopt healthy habits. I would like to congratulate all the participants and especially the winners and hope that this scholarship will inspire them to realise their educational pursuits.”
To participate in the offer, consumers had to learn the 5 simple oral care tips that were available on 200 gm and 100 gm packs of Colgate Dental Cream. These were also available on the Colgate website: www.colgate.co.in. Once the consumers learnt these tips, they had to send an SMS to the number provided on the back of the pack and respond to one simple oral care question.

In fact, one out of 2 children in India suffer from tooth decay. As market leaders, it is our responsibility to bridge the awareness gap and that is why we are constantly innovating and reaching out to consumers. It has been our continuous endeavour to develop programs that help create awareness about the need for oral hygiene, through school activities and other initiatives.”
“We are delighted with the overwhelming response that the Colgate Learn & Earn offer has generated. We received over 130,000 entries of which 150 scholarship winners were selected. I would like to congratulate not only the winners who received the scholarship but also all the consumers who participated in the campaign,” he further added.
As leaders in oral care in India, Colgate has always worked ceaselessly to create widespread oral care awareness through school programs like Bright Smiles, Bright FuturesTM which reaches out to children in primary schools spreading the message of basic oral care hygiene. Colgate Learn & Earn offer is one more such initiative to engage with consumers and emphasize the importance of oral care hygiene.
